What is Stinger | back to top |
Stinger is a stand-alone utility that runs on ALL Windows platforms. Stinger is an emergency antivirus tool used to search for about 30 currently prevalent viruses.
One nice feature of the utility is that it scans for a limited set of viruses, so it is much quicker than a full virus scan. It only finds viruses that it is designed to detect, so it is NOT a comprehensive anti-virus solution.
Stinger will detect all strands of these and other viruses:
Exploit-DcomRPC
Lovsan (a.k.a. Blaster)
Nachi
Klez (all varieties)
Sobig
Mimail
Bugbear
Sircam
Yaha
Dumaru
SQL-Slammer
Nimda
